Immediately behind Bournemouth Pier lies Bournemouth Pleasure Gardens, a stretch of beautiful, well cared for parkland about two miles in
length. Bournemouth gardens are centered around the small river Bourne that bubbles its way to the sea through the middle. Almost all of
the river way is channelled but this does not detract from its charm.
The most southerly part of Bournemouth Lower Gardens and the River Bourne shortly before it disappears underground near the Pier.
The gardens are divided into three separate stretches. The Lower Gardens, near the Pier, the Central Gardens which are the
landward side of Bournemouth square and the Upper gardens, which are beyond the Central gardens and are about a mile from the sea.
Originally laid out by the Victorians, the gardens have continued to evolve and enhance their breathtaking abundance for rare and
beautiful plant species.

The Bournemouth Central Gardens Pergola nestles in the lush vegetation.
Bournemouth Gardens are now actually Grade II listed. Each of the three individual gardens has a different look and feel about it
and they all deserve exploration.Often visitor fail to appreciate that the award winning gardens are more than the Lower Gardens
and fail to even find the Central Gardens let alone the Upper Gardens!
