Hengistbury Head Places To Stay

Because of its proximity to Bournemouth, there is an enormous choice of accomodation with a 20 mile radius of Hengistbury Head. Everything from five star luxury hotels to camping sites are available. Often the sheer choice of accomodation can be daunting. Below is a selection of local options, each of which offers good quality accomodation, often with a range of extra facilities and/or entertainment and almost all are child friendly or are actually specifically aimed at family holidaying. All of the options below link through to the particular suppliers website. I believe they all are responsible, fair and honest traders (or they would not be here!). You may obviously peruse these sites at you leisure for places further afield if you wish, but I have tried to either get an initial landing page that will offer accomodation as near to Hengistbury Head as possible or have at least indicated the names of the accomodation next to the banner. Often the supplier will offer you a free brochure as well as the opportunity to order on-line. Many firms use the brochure as a method to offer special deals either with the brochure or at a later date, so they are worth requesting even if you do not want to go on holiday immediately. You may save a great deal of money later if the right special deal turns up at the right time. Anyway I hope you find something of interest below, and have a great holiday!

Sandhills Holiday Park

Sandhills Holiday Park is sandwiched between Avon Beach and Mudeford Quay. You are literally a stones throw from the sea. It takes a few minutes to either walk to Avon Beach or to the ferry at Mudeford Quay which will take you on a five minute boat ride across to Mudeford sandspit and Hengistbury Head. For the energetic, after the ferry ride you can literally walk to central Bournemouth, a distance of several miles taking in Hengistbury Head and the various beaches up to Bournemouth Pier. For those with less desire for long distance walking you can relax in a truly picturesque area and just watch the world go by.

The banner of the left is a specific link to the Sandhills page of the Park Holidays website. You can, of course check out the deals for other holiday offers via the link and/or request a more detailed brochure (usually about 1/2 way down page on right hand side)

Britannia hotels have three hotels in Bournemouth all of which offer good family accomodation.

Britannia Hotel

Situated above the East Cliff beach in Bournemouth which allows a quick desent down a nearby zigzag to East Cliff beach. East Cliff beach is the most popular of the beaches around Bournemouth. However the hotel is still very central to Bournemouth's abundant night-life and offers a really good choice for both family breaks and for couples. There are spectacular sea views and an indoor heated swimming pool. They often offer very good short notice week-end discounts. Check on the website for details.

Roundhouse Hotel

The Roundhouse Hotel is an iconic Bournemouth landmark hotel situated on the Lansdown at Bournemouth. It is slightly further from the beach than the Britannia Hotel but offers the same high standard and also offers many late deals.

Heathlands Hotel

The Heathlands is a three star hotel centrally located in Grove Road in Bournemouth. It offers sea views, an outdoor heated swimming pool and is set within its own landscaped gardens. As with all hotels within the Britannia hotel chain, there are frequent special deals and late offers. Check out the site for more information.

Dorset Holiday Cottages

Hoseasons are one of the main providers of holiday cottages in the region. They organise and ensure the quality of the accomodation meets strict requirements. They actually run cottages all over the country so to narrow down the search to the Dorset region simply search on Dorset to get the (substantial!) list of available properties. For a peaceful and low cost break it is hard to beat renting a cottage.

Sandford Holiday Park

Sandford Holiday Park is just West of Poole and is about 18 miles from Hengistbury Head. It is however centrally located for access to range of beaches withing the area such as the ever popular Studland Bay and Sandbanks beach both of which are only a few miles away. The nearest town is Wareham which is the gateway to the Jurassic coast. If dramatic scenery or fossil hunting are your pleasure then you are not far from Lulworth Cove, the ghostly abandoned village of Tyneham and the unspoilt Warbarrow bay. Both Tyneham and Warbarrow bay are within the famous Range Walks near Lulworth castle. An ideal family holiday park.

Lookout Park

A little nearer to Wareham than Sandford Holiday Park, Lookout Park is a peaceful retreat right on the doorstep of the Jurassic coast. It is about 15 miles from Bournemouth and about 20 from Hengistbury Head. It shares the same beatiful countryside and beaches as its neighbour at Sandford.

Both of these parks are available from Hoseasons via the banner on the left.
